The story begins in Birdwell Island, while Emily Elizabeth calls for Clifford (character). She hears a rustling in the bushes, and Clifford pops up and rushes toward her. Emily Elizabeth tells Clifford that they are going to be late for a carnival. Clifford licks her face and then races away.
